Web Is For Games
Why I’m created this page
I started WebIsForGames because creating a game with UE4 for HTML5 always felt harder than it should be.
Existing works
- There is an existing HTML5 fork by Specular Coder, and he is doing great work. I use it as a base and respect what’s already there. But I have my own goals and wishes.
- I’ve also seen another fork UFNA but I didn’t tried to use it yet.
Maybe, if more people will work in this direction we can do something really usefull at some point.
Why Not UE5
- On a modern PC, UE4 feels almost lightweight engine
- Tools are fast to launch
- WebGL2 is well adopted
- Build size is reasonable (after tuning)
- Comparing to a typical HTML5 game graphics seems cool and modern
- PhysX (it’s my personal opinion) is better than Chaos
Demos
First of all I wants to add some visibility. UE4 really lacks good web showcases.
There were different demos in a past. Some are still exists. But there’s no clear place where you can open a page and instantly see what Unreal can do in the browser. Most examples are outdated, broken, or hidden in forum threads.
I wanted a place where web builds are not an afterthought - where demos load fast, work on phones, and are easy to share with a link.

What I’m Going To Improve
I want to focus on the things that matter to me:

How Far It Can Go
I’ve started this project to reduce friction, document the problems honestly, and show that Unreal 4 on the web is still worth experimenting with. No marketing, no promises - just working demos and real notes from the process.
I’m doing all of this in my spare time, and honestly, that time is very limited. This project exists mainly to see if there’s actually an audience that cares about Unreal on the web.
For now, this is an experiment - not just in tech, but in whether this niche is alive at all.
